The trailer for the movie Boychoir. with Dustin Hofman, Kathy Bates, and Debra Winger.
A talented but troubled boy from Texas enrolls in the American Boychoir School, finds himself and becomes a star.
Some readers will know that my son attends the American Boychoir School here in Princeton, and other than the movie leads, the choir in the movie is the actual boychoir in their own school and performance uniforms. The soundtrack is sung by the American Boychoir as well.
The Boychoir is a remarkable institution, and any parents with boys 5th - 8th grade a with passion for singing will find the school a truly unique experience.
Last year, the boys started the year with a tour in Korea, cut an album, toured ten states, sang Britten with the Boston Symphony Orchestra and closed the year with a Christmas concert with the Canadian Brass at Princeton University's Richardson Hall .
Second semester, they again toured ten states, filmed the movie, sang at Bunny Mellon's funeral with Bette Midler, cut the movie soundtrack, toured again, and ended the year with a trip to France to sing at the the 33rd annual Jazz sous les Pommiers with the legendary Bill Carrothers Quintet, commemorating the 70th anniversary of D-Day.
They were on the road 100 days, and out of state for 70 days.
It's not your average middle school, and neither is the experience. It is something entirely different and completely unique.
