A stunning rise in consumer sentiment. With the collapse of oil prices, consumer sentiment has risen some 16 points in just a few months. Was all this societal stress--secular stagnation and the end of America--all about oil? Sure seems like it.
So Director Lagarde, if you want to improve the mood in Europe, why not try recommending low gasoline prices. There's nothing in Europe that affordable gasoline could not solve.
And as for the US economy, the man on the street is not expecting just another average year. The consumer is, at a minimum, expecting one like the better half of the Clinton years.
